The cocktail reception begins at 6:30 p.m. and the seated awards presentation is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $29 for SPJ members, $39 for non-members and $19 for students.

On Thursday, March 25, at 10 a.m., Miami Dade College (MDC) will present Patrick Farrell as part of its acclaimed Journalism Speaker Series. The event will be held at the college’s North Campus. A staff photographer for The Miami Herald since 1987, Farrell’s assignments have taken him to the Middle East, across the Caribbean and throughout Central and South America.
This year, the South Florida Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists is offering three (3) scholarships worth $1,000 each. One award will go to a high school student, one to a four-year college student, and one to a community college student.
