There's a long-standing group insurance plan available to SPJ members -- with health, long-term disability and term life options.  Membership in SPJ also offers those socializing opportunities that Price mentioned at the end of her article.  Our events are open, so you can attend before joining to see what you think. 

Does it go without saying that you need to scrupulously save and file receipts for parking, travel, meals, research materials and other things you pay for in the course of your work?  Then when you do itemize deductions don't forget your SPJ membership and any conferences you paid to attend.</description>
