Thanks for the information. The site wasn't designed with Ubuntu in mind. Maybe we can consider that in its next iteration.

Mike McQueen was one of the best -- easy to work with, easy to like, the kind of editor a writer likes to have on the desk when the flack starts flying. I was grateful that he took seriously the opportunity to serve our profession through SPJ. Yes, he was chapter president for a year or two, but before that filled the tiring role of treasurer. Later he served on our national education committee, writing several times for Quill about preparing the next generation of journalists. It hurts to see him gone so soon.

I am interested in receiving updates on what your group is doing. I'm near Tampa, a long way from Dade County, but perhaps we could start something like this up here. I lost my full time job as an editor two years ago and have been struggling along as a freelancer, trying to survive.

I had the pleasure of working with Pedro at the San Antonio Light for a few years until the paper closed in 1993. He was an upbeat guy, a lot of fun. He was also very skilled as a copy editor and as a boxing writer. It saddens me that I failed to keep up with him after the Light closed. But I am proud to have worked with someone so talented and committed to his craft. My deepest sympathy and condolences to his family and friends.

Congratulations to all the recipients. It is so important for our society to have fearless investigators to uncover the truth and the dangers facing us. We cannot hope the government could or would do that. We need journalists to do that. Thanks and good luck to all.

I hope this law passes. I am doing all in my power to blow the whistle on the local police chief of my community for illegally dredging the bayou behind his house and my house and distroying the wetlands but in great fear of reprisal. I have already had one visit by the police and my neighbor who has also blown the whistle has had at least 3 visits by the police. Seems like his badge is giving him preferential treatment.

Kevin Shea @850 374-2938 if anyone wants to interview me.
