Image of Column The Society of Professional Journalists South Florida Pro Chapter has announced its 2009-2010 scholarship program. The chapter will award three $1,000 cash prizes at the end of this academic year — one each to an outstanding student journalist from a high school, community college, and four-year university in the tri-county area.

Financial need, academic performance, and quality of work for student or professional news media is considered.

All applicants must submit the following by the April 15, 2010 application deadline:

  1. A cover letter explaining why you are great.
  2. A recommendation from someone who will attest to your greatness.
  3. Links or PDFs to 3 of your clips from a school or pro publication and/or links to 3 audio or video clips from a school or pro radio or TV station.
  4. Your GPA . (If you win, we’ll ask for a transcript to verify it.)

A panel of judges will determine the winner. If you are the one, we’ll notify you by May 15, 2010.
